Water from the tap is not drinkable. Ask the gardener to order water for you. This costs approx. 1,5 Euro for a 19 liter bottle that fits in the water cooler and is delivered at your door steep. Tip: Don’t remove the top of the bottle. Instead clean it and cut a cross in the middle. This way you won’t end up splashing water all over yourself and the floor.
Food is great. There are many restaurants in the area, that are willing to pick you up for dinner and drive you back afterwards—at no extra charge! In the cabinet under the TV you will find name and phone numbers to several restaurants. Some of them also deliver food directly to Palm Villas (e.g. La Vida).
Electricity: In southern Turkey, power is not always reliable, and power outages do occur. They normally don’t last very long, but all rooms have flashlights. Please take note of where they are.
Local Buses:(Dolmus) go from the bus park outside Palm Villas – 100 m to the left on the main road (next to the beach bar). They run every 10 min in the holiday season (every 20-30 min out of season) until 3am in season (11pm in the winter). They cost 1ytl (4 Dkr.) to Konakli and 1.75ytl (7 Dkr) to Alanya. When going from Alanya to Palm Villas by bus ask to get off at “Data Bareka” (this means the man with one arm and he owns the grocery shop where the bus stops).
Taxis to Alanya cost approximately 20ytl (80 Dkr) and barter is expected.
Money: YTL are New Turkish Lira – do not accept any notes with multiple zeros as these were withdrawn from use in 2005 following a major devaluation. There are approximately 10 ytl to 40 Dkr. Lira or euros may be used for large items but lira are required for small items and in local shops. All your lira must be used up in Turkey. There are cash machines widely available.
Phone calls : Mobiles work well in Turkey. When phoning the DK dial 0045. Useful Numbers: LocalTaxi 009(0)5353 195088 or 5365 437239 Local Doctor, Dentist, & Hosp. 009(0)2475 123565
There is a Health Clinic and Post Office in Konakli. You will need to take your passport and insurance certificate for the clinic.
Rubbish: Leave outside villa front door each evening for collection.
The washing water in Alanya is very soft
Pool: The pool is open from 1/4—31/10.
Please do not use scourers or chemicals on the marble worktop, sink or floors – warm water is sufficient. Be aware that lemon, oranges etc destroy the marble.
In the cabinet under the TV you will find a book containing ideas on sightseeing, restaurants etc. |
